Guitar music before the internet

Before the internet and the video age, people who wanted to learn to play guitar had to rely on guitar music books. If they did not feel confident enough to go it alone, they had to find a guitar teacher. Books held the information about keys, scales and chords. The teacher could give guidance on how to hold the guitar, how to position the right and left hands, and how to hold a plectrum. If a new guitarist could not find a teacher then he had to develop his ear by learning from records, the radio or music videos on television.
