"All the books you'll find of this ilk are by folks who've used this music for gigs. Consider you audiences--weddings, cocktail parties--and their musical knowledge/tastes.
For many years (1975-1990) I played gigs with all the flute and guitar masterworks (Ibert, Giuliani, Castelnuevo-Tedesco, Villa-Lobos, etc.) with flautists who studied with Murray Panitz, James Gallway, etc. We'd be playing our fingers off and then someone would come up to us and ask, "Can you play any Beatles songs?" So we decided to chill out, drink some wine, tone it down a few notches, and play what the masses liked. And we made more money that way :-) That all said, this is pleasant MUZAK for the masses. "

High Quality, Clear Effort
"This book features a number of pieces, some fingerstyle country, some classical guitar, and some electric playing as well. Interesting biographical information and testimonials by his friends are there to be read as well. As far as difficulty and technique are concerned, well that's all very subjective but at times I think most anyone would be challenged by some of the pieces in here. "When you wish..." features a lot of artificial harmonics with simultaneous accompanied notes that really takes some getting used to. Not much by way of gigantic stretches(except choro de saudade, ugh, the part with the cross barre, ugh, you will know what i mean), but considerable dexterity is necessary most of the time as well as familiarity with tremolo, travis picking, typical country rhythms, etc. Nice pieces, good challenge, well researched, just a well rounded package and I eagerly anticipate the release of volume 2."

The songs are not easy at all, but are really worth the effort. Sadly Mr Barrueco only published his arrangements in this book. The other songs from the Cuba cd you have to find elsewhere. "
