Chet Atkins in Three Dimensions, Volume 1

50 years of legendary guitar. By John McClellan and Deyan Bratic. For Guitar (Fingerpicking). Transcribed solos. Country. Level: Advanced. Book. Size 8.75x11.75. 208 pages. Published by Mel Bay Publications, Inc.

This tribute contains twenty-two of Chet's greatest solos and duets along with interviews with his daughter, Merle Atkins Russell and close friends such as Jerry Reed, Vince Gill, Eddy Arnold, Don Mclean and many others. This book offers touching insight into the character of an American original, who did much to shape the course of music history and the guitar. Most importantly, Chet Atkins helped thousands of people over the course of his life through kindness and generosity. To quote Jerry Reed, "There is only one." This book is a tribute to a special man, a special artist... a hero to the millions of lives he touched. The Atkins Family has shared many rare photographs which are presented in a special eight-page color insert. Selections include, Heartaches, Caravan, When You Wish Upon a Star (live version), Music to Watch Girls by, Stars and Stripes Forever, Jerry's Breakdown, Nashtown Ville and many others. All music is in standard notation and in tablature. Please visit www.ChetLicks.com for more information.
Nice but hard,,,
"This is for hardcore Chet fans. Nice storys mixed with accurate( as far as i can tell) tabbed chet tunes and a few Jerry Reed tunes as well."

High Quality, Clear Effort
"This book features a number of pieces, some fingerstyle country, some classical guitar, and some electric playing as well. Interesting biographical information and testimonials by his friends are there to be read as well. As far as difficulty and technique are concerned, well that's all very subjective but at times I think most anyone would be challenged by some of the pieces in here. "When you wish..." features a lot of artificial harmonics with simultaneous accompanied notes that really takes some getting used to. Not much by way of gigantic stretches(except choro de saudade, ugh, the part with the cross barre, ugh, you will know what i mean), but considerable dexterity is necessary most of the time as well as familiarity with tremolo, travis picking, typical country rhythms, etc. Nice pieces, good challenge, well researched, just a well rounded package and I eagerly anticipate the release of volume 2."

Good Starter Dead Book
"Has all the chords and strum patterns to get you started, but this is not gonna make you a GD cover band. All sheet music is clearly written and very accurate. It has the vocal melodies clearly written but lacks all of the Garcia solo work that made you peak. If you like the "puzzle" of knowing the key and want to pick your own scale progressions, then this is the book for you."
