"I love this book, the transcriptions are exact as on the cd. The 1st song "La Comparsa" is always a big hit wherever I play it, at least among Cubans. The songs are not easy at all, but are really worth the effort. Sadly Mr Barrueco only published his arrangements in this book. The other songs from the Cuba cd you have to find elsewhere. "

Double tracked?
"Some of the songs are well arranged and some sound suspicously double tracked and cannot be played as transcribed in tab, without drowning out the melody line by the fill picking. Without knowing how the right hand is fingering the strings or what R.H. technique is used many songs seem impossible to dupicate on your own instrument unless of course you double track or have friend over to play a duet. I have been playing for 10 years and I would not call these songs intermediate by any means, unless of course you pick the easiest fingering passages of each song. "

It's a matter of what you want I guess
"It's sort of a 'greatest hits' of passages of music of 1-2 minutes length generally. The CD is slowed down so it's not fun to listen to casually. A huge chunk of the book is repetitive introduction in foreign languages. The lovely Sonata in C major would be very, very hard if not impossible to play as transcribed at anything approaching 'allegro', so it's kind of not the same. Still, there's plenty of good work in evidence here and there's no doubt something for everyone."

"This is great! If you are tired of buying classical guitar books, just to find out the music is poorly arranged and sometimes missing more than half of the notes, then this is your book. I just can’t say enough about the arranger (Alexander Gluklikh), the pieces of music chosen, or the quality of the recording. After buying four other classical guitar books and being greatly disappointed with how the scores were arranged, and/or transposed (usually in a dumbed-down kindergarten-like way) I found this one. The arrangements of “I Met You” and Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” are worth the cost of the book alone. This book will not be a waste of your money, an insult to your intelligence, or a hindrance toward proper technical growth.
